What is a recall?
A recall is when the manufacturer of your car or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identifies that something relating to your vehicle could create a safety risk or does not meet minimum safety requirements. This means that manufacturers must fix the problem by repairing it, replacing it, offering a refund or even re-purchasing the vehicle.
The NHTSA will monitor each safety recall to make sure that vehicle owners receive notification of the recall. If you have registered your vehicle, your car’s manufacturer will notify you of the recall via a letter in the mail or by phone.
